Rio del Sol – Luxury Rainforest & Ocean Retreat

Welcome to Rio del Sol, your private sanctuary nestled mid-mountain in the jungle of San Josecito, just minutes from Uvita. Perched at 1,000 feet above sea level, this newly built villa combines modern design with natural beauty, offering sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, the Whale’s Tail, and lush rainforest canopy.

The elevation brings refreshing breezes and comfortable temperatures year-round. Step outside and you may spot toucans, aracaris, scarlet macaws, or hear howler monkeys echoing through the valley.

The heart of the villa is the second-floor outdoor area with a saltwater infinity pool, al fresco dining, gas grill, and loungers overlooking the coastline. Glass walls slide open seamlessly, creating true indoor/outdoor living.

Inside, the open-concept design highlights clean lines, abundant light, and panoramic views. The fully equipped kitchen features brand-new appliances, a spacious refrigerator, and all the essentials to prepare meals—or welcome a private chef to create something special.

Both bedrooms are equal in size and luxury, each with a king bed, walk-in closet, vanity with a jungle view, and en-suite bathroom with a glass-enclosed rainfall shower. Guests may choose between direct access to the pool and sweeping river-valley views, or the peaceful acoustics of a jungle waterfall and a private outdoor sitting area. Each bedroom also includes air-conditioning and ceiling fans for restful comfort.

On the lower level, a spacious retreat invites quiet activities. Stretch into a yoga session, set up for a workout, or simply drift into an afternoon nap on the shaded canopy bed while listening to the sounds of the forest.

The villa’s advanced solar system generates up to 30 kWh per day, with battery storage that supports near off-grid living. This ensures reliable, sustainable energy use and—most importantly—protection from the short-term power outages that are common throughout much of Costa Rica.

Amenities include ceiling fans throughout, high-speed Wi-Fi, Smart TVs, washer and dryer, and thoughtfully provided linens, soaps, and essentials. Concierge service is available to arrange private chefs, excursions, spa treatments, and more.

Guest access

The property is accessed off 100m non-paved road, through an electronic privacy gate. We are located off the main paved San Josecito road. There is ample covered parking . Access to the upstairs living of the area of the villa is possible through a single door.

Other things to note

– 4×4 vehicle is required
– Check-in: 3 pm – 8 pm. $40 fee for check in after 8pm.
– Check-out: 10 am
– Children are welcome; however, please take note of modest railing on ground floor, floating stairs, and deep pool with infinity edge. Pool is located on 2nd level with elevation greater than 20 ft.

– There are 5 exterior surveillance cameras located on the lower level of property. There are no cameras on the 2nd level or pool terrace.

– Airbnb’s Firm Cancelation Policy applies.

– To protect your trip, please consider the purchase of travel/medical insurance inclusive of protections on airline changes, trip interruption, cancellations, personal belongings, personal liability, and medical emergencies. We are not responsible for such events.

– Construction is common in San Josecito and Uvita. There may be construction traffic on the mountain roads with building in and around San Josecito.

– Rio del Sol has a hybrid solar system – meaning both solar and grid (with battery backup) supply power to the house.
– As battery backup supply is depleted, both solar and grid power recharge the battery.
– With prolonged grid power outage, severe weather, and excessive power use, some amenities may be limited. The system is designed to shed amenities based on priority. While not expected, it is possible during extenuating events and excessive personal power use to deplete battery backup power.
